Five Things I Love to Do
Life gets busy, and it’s easy to overlook the simple things that bring real joy. Over time, I’ve learned that happiness often comes from moments that feel familiar, grounding, and meaningful. When I think about what truly fills my cup, these five things rise to the top.
1. Spending Time with Family
Always at the top of the list is family. Family is at the center of everything for me. Whether it’s a big gathering, a quiet dinner, or just sitting around talking, time with family always feels grounding. There’s something comforting about being with people who know you well and accept you as you are. These moments don’t need to be extravagant to matter. They’re meaningful because they create memories that will last a life time. They strengthen bonds and remind me what’s truly important in life.
2. Working Around the Yard
Spending time working in my backyard can seem simple and overwhelming at times. It is incredibly rewarding to know that you have accomplished a goal. You can achieve this by rebuilding a deck or by replanting a flower bed. There’s a sense of pride that comes from maintaining and improving your own space.

Whether I’m mowing, planting, or just tidying up, yard work gives you a chance to slow down. It allows me to enjoy being outdoors. It’s physical, productive, and surprisingly relaxing—plus, the results are something to can see and appreciate every day.
3. Spending Time with Friends
Good friends make life richer. Whether we’re sharing a meal, laughing over old stories, or just catching up, time with friends always lifts your spirits. Friends bring different perspectives, humor, and energy into life. These connections remind you that we’re not meant to go through life alone. Shared moments often become the best memories.
4. Enjoying Quiet Time and Reflection
As much as I value connection and activity, I also appreciate quiet moments. Taking time to think, relax, or simply enjoy some peace helps recharge. These moments allow you to process experiences, set new goals, and stay balanced. Quiet time helps to be more attentive and grateful for everything else to enjoy.
What sounds to some as work, to me is a way to relax. Taking time for yourself by taking a walk, spending time in the gym, or just simply lying in the sun. Which ever you choose helps you create that balance in your life.
5. Traveling and Exploring New Places
Traveling is one of my greatest passions. I love discovering new destinations, experiencing different cultures, and seeing how other people live. Even short trips can prove to be a refreshing change of perspective. Travel fuels the curiosity of what is next in life. It gives me stories to tell and lessons to learn. Memories from these journeys last long after the adventure ends. There’s nothing quite like stepping into a new place and feeling that spark of adventure.

I learned at a young age that traveling does more for you than just resetting your outlooks on life. It can bring you closer to the people you spend those moment with. Whether it is a weekend getaway or a month long adventure. There is nothing like a trip to make you feel refreshed.
Together, these five things create a life that feels full, balanced, and meaningful. They remind me that happiness doesn’t come from one big moment. It comes from consistently making time for the things—and people—that matter most.
Travel offers more than just an escape from the daily grind. It’s an opportunity to immerse yourself in new adventures. You meet interesting people, and you create unforgettable memories. Each destination has its unique charm and story, waiting for YOU.
